Try 54 New Awesome Lunch Recipes!

winning-lunchOn July 9th, the second annual Healthy Kids Lunchtime Challenge State Dinner was held at the White House.  This year I did not have the pleasure of attending (oh well, going twice was too much to hope for!), but we ALL have the wonderful benefit of the hard work that has gone into the selection of the top recipes–one from each US state and territory.   Chefs and a team of judges critiqued more than 1,300 entries to pick the winning recipes, which included “Bodacious Banana Muffins,” “Bring It On Brussels Sprout Wrap” and “Confetti Peanut Ginger Party Pasta,” among other treats.  In this newsletter, I will share links to the entire cookbook of recipes, as well as links to each of the individual recipes so that you can try them all!

obama2At the State Dinner, Mrs. Obama said: “We have seen that when kids like all of you get involved in creating your own healthy meals, the results can really be amazing and delicious and fun.  You’ll come up with ideas that none of us grownups ever thought of. You’ll find new ways to get your families and friends to eat healthy and try new foods.”

President Obama showed up at the event again, showing the kids just how important this event is to the entire country.  You can read the details from ABC news here.
